Coming from the Midwest (Denver, Colorado), I knew that NYU would be a big transition. With so many students (in a city of 8 million), NYU can seem like a daunting experience. Once you get here, however, you'll realize that it's easy to settle in and build community within the University. The hundreds of student organizations connect you with people who share your interests. I'm double majoring in Journalism and Fine Art, so I joined the Fine Arts Society. There, I met fellow Fine Art majors and explored the museums and galleries of New York. I also sought out and landed an internship at an art gallery for my first semester. I benefited from real world experience in my educational field, and this was possible because we are located in New York City. In GSP class sizes are kept small, so it's easy to meet people both outside and inside the classroom. During my freshman year I also served as a student ambassador, as a Freshman Orientation Leader. These activities build on the strong community that GSP already offers.
