I am originally from Detroit, Michigan. NYU was my first choice for college--my dream school. Getting involved in a school activity has been a great way to meet people. NYU has a wide variety of clubs, sports, and other organizations you can be a part of. I got involved with the LS student council as Vice President. And after you master the subway system and learn your way around, you will be able to take advantage of all New York City has to offer. I can't remember the last time I was actually bored. There are museums and art galleries, Broadway and off-Broadway shows, comedy clubs, independent movie theaters. It sounds expensive, but may places give great student discounts and NYU sells discounted tickets through it's student box office. You can also intern or get a part-time job. With the help of the counselors at NYU's career development center, I wrote a resume, practiced my interviewing skills, and searched for internships. I interned at Teen Vogue magazine. I also interned in the production office of the movie, "Sex and the City." Next year, I will be spending a semester at NYU's campus in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both New York City and New York University and NYU sites abroad will provide you with more opportunities than you could ever imagine.
