GSP Alumni Association

A Message from Geoffrey T. Raicht (GSP '88, CAS '90, WAG '92)

As the President of the newly formed General Studies Program Alumni Association, I am honored and pleased to be among the first to welcome you. It is amazing to think that over the past thirty-five years GSP has touched the lives of nearly 11,000 NYU students. Moreover it is incredible to think that our alumni base will dramatically increase in the years to come. The word is out that GSP is an amazing place learn, expand your experience and make valuable friends with students and professors alike, evidenced by the fact that this year's incoming class is expected to be approximately 1,000 students - the second largest freshman class at NYU. I think that you would be happy to know that despite the increase in enrollment, GSP has remained true to its curriculum - small class sizes, emphasis on the classics, critical thinking and writing, and a strong sense of community.

I am very excited about the new General Studies Program Alumni Association. It creates a fantastic opportunity for GSP alumni to reconnect not only with NYU alumni from other schools, but with their roots and other GSP alumni as well. We hope to encourage this interaction by having at least one GSP-specific alumni event per semester and encourage a large GSP presence at numerous NYU-wide alumni events throughout the year. We invite not only NYU graduates to join but also those GSP alumni who are still completing their undergraduate education at NYU in other school.

GSP is a special place. Few places within a large university can achieve academic excellence while maintaining the feeling of a close knit community. I hope you will join me in celebrating GSP's 35th anniversary and I hope to see you at one of the alumni events this upcoming year.
